Catchin' Up With the Little Man

Days are never boring with our little man. He just makes life so wonderful!
This first picture is Steven as a burrito. He woke up one morning, and was shivering, so I said, "are you brrrr cold?" and he of course said, "Brrrrr cold!" So, I told him we could wrap him up like a burrito. He thought it was the best thing ever, and he stayed in there for about 10 minutes warming up. He just keeps getting smarter and smarter, and I LOVE how he is starting to put words together into bigger phrases.
-The other night when Darrell and I were racing on the wii, Steven was coloring pictures...or so we thought. I looked over to see him drawing fantastic blue circles all over the wall. I went on to tell him the wall is not for coloring on, and got out the lysol wipes to clean it up. He helped me to wipe it up, and the next morning, when he saw the wipes, he said, "Washie blue crayon!!" And he wanted to do it again.
-He now has started counting, and really does a great job. He will start by going 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. once he gets to 8, he goes, 8, 8, 8, 8, until someone prompts him with 9. He then proceeds from 10, 11, 12, 13, 13, 13, until you say 14, then he'll go 15, 16, 17, 18!
-He knows all of his letters, but is still working on saying his ABC's all in a row. They go something like: a, b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, o, p, r, s, u, x, y, z!
Last week, we drove up the mountain to see the leaves. Steven kept telling us they were purple and pink, when clearly they were orange, yellow, green, and red :) He had fun getting some pictures nonetheless...
Happy Fall Everyone!!!

Girls Weekend!

This is a little behind, but a few weekends ago, my mom, my sister, and sis-in-laws got together for a relaxing weekend of fun and time with each other!
Friday night, we all met up and had a delicious dinner. Then we had a fantastic fondue party that evening!!
Saturday dawned early, where we got to do a session in the Provo temple before heading out to lunch, then going to a play at the Hale Center Theatre. It was a great weekend, and it was fun to be able to bond with these girls more!!

Birthday Boys!!

Well, until January, everyone that lives in our home has a September Birthday!! Hooray! Last week, with the opening of BYU football season, I decided that would be the perfect opportunity to throw my fantastic husband a birthday party! We were able to have lots of his family here with us, and we had a great time watching the game!We were very happy we saved the cake until after the game. Made the celebration more sweet! :) The cake was supposed to have goal posts...but they didn't work. Also, I couldn't find any candles except the one from Steven's birthday last year..so BYU is now #1
Steven having fun with Aunt Melanie
Randomly...Steven discovered a love for corn on the cob this week
Then today we had a fun family picnic for Steven's birthday. We were able to have both of Steven's Grandpas and Grandpas, Great Grandpa and Great Grandma, and Aunt's Sheri and Melanie join us. It was a fun little get together before another wonderful BYU game! :)
(thanks to my friend Kristen for the fantastic cake idea)
Steven thought his cake was pretty cool
And of course, blowing out candles is the coolest thing ever
And cake is always delicious
Steven LOVES LOVES LOVES Cars, and was definitely not disappointed
Thanks to everyone for coming!! Darrell had a wonderful birthday, and Steven absolutely LOVES all of the things he got. He loves reading the books, he will love wearing clothes, and he loves cars!!

Can't believe he's already 2!!

I can't believe our little man is 2 years old today!! It's gone by so fast, yet there has been so much to happen in that time as well! Darrell and I both graduated from USU, we made a big move with Darrell's job, we have traveled on numerous family trips, and so so so much more!! Here are some fun things about Steven:
-He knows all of his ABC's, and only sometimes gets E and F mixed up :)
-He knows some of his colors: orange, yellow, green, blue, red, pink, purple, and black and white (although black and white get mixed up very often)
-He knows the last part of the BYU Cougars Fight Song
-If prompted with USU, he will immediately shout AGGIES! Same with BYU COUGARS!!
-He gets a facination out of camera, phones and basically anything electronic
-He just barely cut his 12th tooth, and is slowly, but surely, working on about 4 more
-He absolutely loves the movie Cars, specifically the character of Mater and McQueen
-He has recently become obsessed with Darby, Tigger, and Pooh
-He is going to be a big brother in about 4 months and is very excited to have a little sister
And of course, we can't go without a picture or two...or 10 or something :)
Day 1
Day 7 3 months old
6 months old
9 months old
1 year old
15 months old
18 months old
21 months old

WE LOVE YOU HANDSOME LITTLE MAN!

Steven's Birthday Pics

Yes, I do realize these have words printed through them, but they were still too cute not to share!! Steven was TERRIBLE last year getting his pictures taken, but due to the fact that we got a free picture for his birthday, and I had store credit that needed to be used before the end of this month, we ventured to try again this year. Needless to say, we had a great photographer who was able to play to Steven's interests, and we got some good ones :)

Happy Birthday Darrell!

The Big 27!!!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband, who has so many wonderful qualities!!!
Here are 27 things you may or may not know about Darrell:
1. He loves being in the outdoors (Hiking, camping, etc.)
2. When he gets excited, he rubs his hands together and gets a big smile on his face
3. He looks forward to BYU Football season with much anticipation and joy
4. He is the best story-teller, and Steven prefers him to read him stories
5. When he was "interested" in me at Snow College, he walked around my apartment building twice before getting the nerve to knock on the door
6. He loves to study the Old Testament every morning
7. He is great at making sure we have family and couple prayers every single day
8. He loves to serve the Lord
9. He can make me laugh, even if he thinks his jokes are dumb
10. He thinks I'm beautiful, no matter what I look like
11. He loves being a daddy
12. He enjoys spending time in his garden, and it can cheer him up
13. When we first got the movie "Cars", he used to watch "Mater and the Ghostlight" when he was in a bad mood, and it would instantly cheer him up (It still always makes him laugh)
14. He is always very thoughtful
15. He loves to make trumpet noises and vocal percussion which Steven loves to imitate
16. He loves finance, and loves to learn about finance
17. Even though he is a practical person, after playing one for a weekend, he wants to get a Wii
18. He got so excited when we got our free surround sound system, he had to watch all the Harry Potter movies; which he did, and acted like a little kid at Christmas :)
19. He is a worthy Priesthood holder, and I'm so thankful he can give me a blessing at the drop of a hat
20. He is a quiet person, but once you get to know him, he can carry on a great conversation
21. Even though he never had been hunting before he met me, he was willing to go out and enjoy the deer hunt with my brothers the year we were married (he liked it, by the way)
22. He always makes sure to give me and steven both a hug and a kiss as soon as he gets home from work
23. The last year he went to Snow College he told people he wouldn't find a wife that year, because all the girls were too young. Low and behold, he met and married a first year Snow student :)
24. Even though he went to, graduated from, and supports the Aggies, in his heart you will find the words BYU COUGARS!
25. He doesn't love to grow his beard, but when he does, he can beat all his brothers and brother-in-laws in a growing contest
26. One of the things that attracted me to him was his love for children
27. He always seems to be humming, trumpeting, or vocalizing some happy song as he works.
Overall he's a great guy, and we love him!!!

Just a fun post

This picture was actually taken about 5 days ago, so at 19 weeks, 5 days Last week we went to Farm Country for $2 Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point. Here is Steven hangin' out in the kids jail After riding the horse wagon
After rearranging the bedroom, we found the old baby bathtub. Steven tried "kickin" at first, but then decided it was a boat.
Steven being mad
Love this kid's sleeping positions
Being cheesy :)
Here are some fun videos. As you can tell, Steven mostly thinks a camera is for pictures, not for videos :)

3 years ago today...

The weather was perfect., just what we ordered. The temple was beautiful, just like I imagined. Everything was what a wedding day should be! I didn't feel the stress that I thought I would feel. Just lots of happy giddy feelings of love and excitement!
I have the greatest husband and 3 years has only improved him! He is so patient with me, and especially lately when I still don't feel good in the evenings, and am lucky if dinner is somewhat balanced and exciting. (Thanks be to garden vegetables that are SUPER easy to get put onto the table)
Today may not be all that exciting, but it's the memories that I'm able to think about, and think of how blessed I am. Life definitely has turned out NOTHING like I planned, but with a fabulous husband and great son that wants to be just like his daddy, I'm thankful for what the Lord has given me. I love you honey!!

Saturday my mom's cousin's got together for a Staheli Family Reunion. Darrell wasn't able to join us, since he worked on Friday, but I was so glad that I was able to get a chance to go! One of the highlights for me was going to Holt's Ranch to visit the Family Cemetery. Here, I got to see my great-grandparents graves, Bartlett and Lillie Farnsworth. (And lots of other distant ancestors as well) Steven had a lot of fun, and was glad to have his Grandma and Grandpa there, so he didn't have to be surrounded by complete strangers. It was fun to have a few of his cousins there as well!
In the middle of the party, while all the kids were playing on the big waterslide, the weather became dark, and thunder started booming! Then it started to hail, pour, and the torrents came! Luckily, we were in a big pavilion, and everyone huddled to the middle. Steven had a lot of fun saying "BABOOM" every time he would hear the thunder.
Hayley and Kaitlyn were freezing from being wet. They sure are cute!
On the way back, we stopped in the Enterprise Cemetery to see the grave of my grandma's parents, Belle and Le Roy Staheli (It was their descendents having the get-together)
Some cute pictures to finish off....Grandpa and Steven reading books Saturday night at bedtime
Steven loved Grandpa's slippers
